We’re excited to share that Green Trails Inn and the Pond Village Pub were recently featured in The Herald of Randolph! The story, “New Life for a Community Landmark,” written by Katie Jickling on August 29, 2024, highlights the journey of reopening one of Brookfield’s most beloved historic properties.
The article tells the story of owners Josh and Andrew Jonestein, who saw the potential of the 1840s inn the moment they stepped onto the property.
“We walked the property and saw its potential,” Josh told The Herald. “Everyone’s itching to get the doors open.”
Since purchasing the inn in late 2023, the pair have been hard at work restoring the building and bringing fresh energy to the Brookfield community. Their vision blends old and new — keeping the craftsmanship and warmth of the original Green Trails Inn while creating a comfortable space for modern travelers and locals to enjoy.
“Cozy—that’s been our keyword this whole time,” Josh said in the interview.
From working with local farms and Vermont producers to reintroducing the Pond Village Pub, the focus remains on community, connection, and authenticity — all the things that make this corner of Vermont special.
We’re honored to see Green Trails Inn recognized as part of Brookfield’s story again, and we can’t wait to open our doors to guests and neighbors soon.
