We’re thrilled to share that Green Trails Inn and the Pond Village Pub were recently featured in VermontBiz! The article, “Newcomers to Vermont Revive Historic Inn,” highlights our journey of restoration, community, and starting a new chapter here in Brookfield.
Written by Katie Jickling and published on October 5, 2025, the story shares how owners Andrew and Josh Jonestein turned a spontaneous visit to Vermont into a full-scale renovation project — breathing new life into the historic 1840s inn and creating a welcoming space for locals and travelers alike.
“The community has been very accepting and eager for us to open,” Andrew said. “We often see people peeking through the windows while we’re working, excited to see what we’ve done.”
The article also shines a light on the extensive hands-on work that’s gone into restoring the building — from insulation and painting to refinishing floors and landscaping — all with the help of local contractors and the guidance of the Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC).
“You have to put your heart, soul, and time into it,” Andrew said. “If not, you really don’t feel like it’s yours.”
As they prepare to open the Pond Village Pub, their vision remains simple: to create Brookfield’s “third place” — a cozy community gathering spot where people can connect, relax, and feel at home.
“We’re excited to jump into it because Brookfield really needs places like this,” Andrew explained. “It felt really good. We knew we made the right decision.”
We’re honored to be featured by VermontBiz and proud to share a little piece of what makes this project so special.
