Our hometown of Brookfield, Vermont and our Green Trails Inn and Pond Village pub were highlighted in a recent NBC5 feature — “This Is Our Home: Brookfield.” The segment, reported by Ben Frechette and published on June 25, 2024, explores the history, character, and community spirit that make this small Vermont town so special.
The story shines a light on the Brookfield Floating Bridge, a beloved landmark first built in 1820 and rebuilt more than half a dozen times since. Its unique pontoon design and enduring presence reflect Brookfield’s dedication to preserving its heritage and identity.
The feature includes interviews with longtime resident Gordon Gifford, who shared memories of growing up near the bridge, and Town Treasurer Amy Ingrassia, who spoke about Brookfield’s quiet charm, scenic walking paths, and the balance between honoring tradition and welcoming growth.
